Since the heavy use of mobile devices on the internet, now exceeding 60% vs desktop devices, Google has planned to begin or transition to a new metric to measure the responsiveness of sites. It is Interaction to Next Paint (INP). It is replacing FID as a Core Web Vital in March 2024. In short what this means to all of us: Mobile View is Google’s main device they are concentrating on, If your website does not score high enough in their metrics of responsiveness is will be buried behind all that rank high. You can now see how your website measures up on this scale using the tool PageSpeed Insights. My site, as well as many vacation rental websites contain many images as we are trying to sell someone from afar to spend their hard earned cash to rent our property for their trip. I had been lucky gaining nearly 75% direct bookings, but this put this at risk. If my website falls in rankings, how is it going to be found? I had / have 2 options; spend a bunch of money each month on pay-per-click campaigns or get the website to load as fast as it can. So I used my previous experience as web host and obtained some of the newest technology & fastest machines made. This was my solution. These servers are up to 20 Times faster than a Linux server. So we’ve now got several (7) of these machines throughout the country at different data centers piped in with 10GPS fiber optic cable to be able to simultaneously as a network to push out data & images to anyone that wants to see my website. This is now lending the opportunity for a select number of others to have their websites hosted on the same servers. I don’t want to make it like any other shared server where there are more than 400 sites banging on its resources. They are going to stay nimble and fast and give us every opportunity to push through the thousands of other vacation rental websites and come up on the keywords we are wanting to be found.

Direct bookings can earn you more compare to just hosting your property on VRBO, AirBnB, Booking.com, etc. especially when you look at the time some spend sending referrals to your site by focusing on Facebook Groups. I have only posted 6 times this year in a Facebook group that I had availability. I’ve been booked, so I haven’t had the need. You could too!
